another day, another tattoo. it is the thundercats logo, and it looks very nice, although it is only half done because of time and price issues. the head is done though, and he traced the circle in red, so i think maybe next month before california i'll get it all done. a tattoo is an odd experience. you pick something you really want done, because it's gonna be permanent, that's the easy part. then there's the waiting, and the waiting some mroe while he gets the gun ready and takes all the needles out of their sterile packaging(if he's good, that's what he does). there's a wrrr and a buzzing sound and then there's the first little prick, stab, whatever. and after that, well, you're in for the ride. the pain isn't a constant. differnt parts hurt worse, causing you to not drift too far away. i think the farther he got up my arm to my shoulder, the worse the pain got. same thing with the inside of my arm. this tattoo hurt much more than my first, which i guess is good because i was ready for it. at one point in the procedure, they had this really long song on. think godspeed you black emperor, that kind of guitar, mellow rock. well there was that, and there was a flourescent light that was half-broken, you could watch the chemicals or lightwaves or whatever drift back and forth between the ends. the pain became a white noise for everything else, and everntually i could only focus on that lamp. when i looked back down at the needle jabbing my arm, the pain came back, much like zooming in on a camera or one of those magic eye pictures. one minute it's a tingle and the next it's back to hurting enough that i had to grip the armrest. and when it's over, you share a moment with the artist, cuz you both are part of this thing on your body. it's a very personal art, and i think i'll always remember scott for that.well it's about 70 out there so i'ma go put on some shorts and wait for amie and joe and maybe holly will call too. that would be awesome :) keep on keepin on kids music:saves the day, flogging molly, abandoned pools, jimmie's chicken shack
